I use 8xMSAA on Shogun 2's in game settings & it does an awesome job of smoothing things out. It really doesn't smooth up & look any better to my eyes. I have even gone as far as forcing FXAA & 32xCSAA together on Rome II just to see if it would look any better regardless of what fps hit I would take. Forcing 8xMSAA on Rome II looks like 2xMSAA with Shogun 2's in game setting. As said, this is a free to own offer, meaning that you will be able to keep the game yours forever. I have actually already been doing this for quite a while, but it doesn't seem to work as well as Shogun 2's in game AA settings. SEGA has announced that Total War: SHOGUN 2 is free to own on Steam. anyway whatever you do make sure that you have the 'AA mode' set to 'override any application setting' or else everything else you change will be defaulted to whatever the game has. personally I only mess with the first four. then on the main section of the contol panel you should see 'select a program to customize' find this game (make sure its actually the game and not the launcher) and then go down a little bit and you should see all of the AA options. You go to your nvidia control panel (not geforce) and then on the left you should see 'Manage 3d settings'.
